The People Who Walk in Darkness-Advent Pennant

Mockup-Front-1

Product Information

This pennant is designed for the great Season of Advent, a time of preparation to meet the coming Messiah, Jesus Christ, both at Christmas and at the end of time. The purple color scheme incorporates the liturgical color of the Season, evocative of its penitential nature. The wording is a paraphrase of Isaiah 9:1: “The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; Upon those who lived in a land of gloom a light has shone” (Isaiah 9:1). The verse has been re-worded to read in the present tense for the purposes of reminding those who look upon it that while the Messiah has already been born, The Season of Advent liturgically and sacramentally situates us in the time leading up to Christ’s historical birth, bidding us to make preparations to greet the Infant Savior on Christmas morning.

These words from the Prophet Isaiah speak of the coming Messiah, and the effect His arrival will have upon the people who await Him. St. Matthew the Evangelist places this verse at the beginning of his account of Jesus’ public ministry, making the connection between Christ’s activity and the message from Isaiah clear to us. And, of course, the Savior refers to Himself as the Light of the world in the Gospel of John: “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12).

Each pennant comes with a wooden dowel for easy hanging. They’re lightweight and highly durable for decor that looks stunning in the long run.

Please note: Print placement may vary by up to 0.5”(1.3cm).
