This 10 oz insulated coffee mug is inspired by the great Irish patron saint, Patrick. The image of the great missionary turned bishop adorns the front of the mug. St. Patrick is seen in his episcopal vestments, holding his crosier, symbolic of his self-sacrificing love, care, and guidance of the people of the emerald isle. In his other hand, Patrick holds the Word of God which he so forcefully proclaimed. The image is framed by shamrock’s, a symbol legend says Patrick used to instruct the people of Ireland about the doctrine of the Most Holy Trinity. The back of the mug features an excerpt of the beautfil hymn, St. Patrick’s Breastplate. The prayer is inspired by the life and faith St. Patrick so boldly proclaimed to the Irish people, and itself echoes St. Paul’s exhortation to “put on the armor of God so that you may be able to stand firm against the tactics of the devil” (Ephesians 6:11). The “armor of God,” is a reference to the Christian Faith in its entirety, at the center of which stands Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Thus, Patrick’s powerful prayer asks Christ for His protection in all things, trusting that regardless of the trials and adversities we face Our Lord stands ready to protect and deliver us from every evil.
