Design Meaning
The Dove at hovering over the symbols of the threefold office of Christ symbolizes the presence of the Holy Spirit that comes to dwell within the baptized when they receive the Sacrament, giving them each a share in Christ’s life and thereby His threefold office of priest, prophet, and king.
The rays of light that stream from above symbolizes the Light of Christ the baptized receive on the day of their baptism. From that day forward, they are resplendent with the life of the Incarnate Son Who Is the Light of the world (see John 8:12), a light they are meant to share with the world by living out the threefold office of Christ they now participate in.
The symbols of the threefold office are reminders of what living out these offices entail.
The office of priest is symbolized by the Cross, reminded the baptized that living out the office of priest means taking up one’s cross daily so as to become a living sacrifice to God (see Luke 9:23 & Romans 12:1)
The office of prophet is symbolized by a Bible, reminding the baptized that living out this office means proclaiming the Word of God in speech and action.
The office of king is symbolized by a crown, a reminder to the baptized that by virtue of their baptism they are heirs to heavenly throne, princes and princesses of the Kingdom of God (see Romans 8:12).
